Showing Up for Maui's Keiki: Street Bikers United Raises $3,700 for PCF's Children's Fund

Earlier this month, Street Bikers United Hawai‘i Maui Chapter brought the community together for its 4th of July Weekend Biker Blowout Party, raising $3,700 for Pacific Cancer Foundation’s Children’s Fund.

The July 4 event began with a poker run from Kanahā Beach Park to Panzo’s Hale in Kīhei, followed by an afternoon gathering filled with live music, food, and community. Ticket sales helped support the Children’s Fund, continuing Street Bikers United Maui Chapter’s longstanding commitment to Maui County’s keiki and families facing cancer.

The Children’s Fund helps ensure that Pacific Cancer Foundation’s free programs and services are available to children and families navigating a cancer diagnosis.

For Ron Panzo, longtime Street Bikers United leader, owner of Nalu’s South Shore Grill, and dedicated PCF supporter, caring for local keiki has always been rooted in community.

Before becoming involved with Pacific Cancer Foundation, Ron had already spent years supporting children across Maui County through Street Bikers United Hawai‘i. Through efforts such as Toys for Tots and Tools for School, the organization has helped provide thousands of toys and hundreds of backpacks each year to children on Maui, Moloka‘i, and Lāna‘i.

Ron’s connection to PCF began through Paddle for Life and his longtime relationship with Kimokeo Kapahulehua. What started with helping provide food for paddlers eventually grew into a deeper commitment to supporting families facing cancer, particularly through the Children’s Fund.

“When you think about a child going through cancer, how scary that is, and not just for the child, but the whole family, that’s probably one of the scariest situations that a family has to go through,” Ron shared in a recent Kukui Journal donor spotlight.

Over the years, Street Bikers United Maui Chapter has continued to rally around the Children’s Fund through community fundraisers and grassroots support. This latest contribution reflects the same generous spirit that has shaped the organization’s work for Maui’s keiki for many years.

“You come up with an idea and say, ‘Let’s support the kids,’” Ron shared. “And people just show up.”
