Celebrating Our New CTS Leaders

Pacific Cancer Foundation is proud to share that 10 new leaders have completed the Cancer: Thriving & Surviving (CTS) Leader Training this month!

CTS is an evidence-based program designed to help cancer survivors and caregivers build skills to manage their health, find balance, and improve their quality of life. Thanks to the commitment of these newly certified leaders, we are now able to offer workshops that empower more members of our Maui County community.

The four-day training, held at the Cameron Center, brought together survivors, caregivers, and community members who shared their experiences, learned facilitation tools, and prepared to guide others on their survivorship journey.

One participant, Guy Nakoa, reflected on the experience:

"I've learned a lot about myself during our 4 day training with PCF, things I went through alone since 2017 until this very moment.

This was very personal. I was reminded of the pain and the struggles, the loneliness and the anger of why people couldn't or wouldn't want to understand.

I guess that’s why I've found peace in sharing, supporting with a level of confidence that, you’re not alone, there are others just like me.

Our Thriving and Surviving group were all women and to listen to their personal experiences was mind blowing to me.

This collaboration of minds is what made our training such a wonderful success.”

Stories like Guy’s capture the heart of CTS: creating safe spaces for survivors and caregivers to find strength, share experiences, and know they are not alone.

We are thrilled to share that our first CTS six-week workshop began on September 16th, and we will be hosting back-to-back sessions through the end of this year.
