Transportation

 *MEO, Inc. provides transportation services to the low-income, elderly, and medically needy residents of Maui County. Transportation is provided through any of the programs that addresses specific needs such as Rural Shuttle, Youth Transportation, Ala Hou, Nutrition, Ka Lima O Maui, Employment for the Disabled, Maui Adult Day Care and Head Start. *MEO Ala Hou is a MEO transportation program that gives individuals with medical issues the highest priority. For information, schedule, and Ala Hou online application please Click Here

*American Cancer Society offers transportation help in the following ways: Airline transportation, Gas reimbursement, Road To Recovery, Cab reservations, and referrals to other resources. Residents of Molokai and Lanai get a higher allotment of money to cover transportations expenses due to the higher cost of travel for those Maui County residents. *Commuter Bus Schedule: Commencing on July 1, 2007, the Maui Bus service will expand its bus service designed for commuters. This service will augment the existing Maui Bus service, not replace it. This service will consist of five commuter routes, all operated by Roberts Hawaii.  The routes are called the Haiku-Wailea Commuter, Makawao-Kapalua Commuter, Wailuku-Kapalua Commuter, Kihei-Kapalua Commuter, and Wailuku-Kahului Connector.  To ensure that there is adequate capacity on the vehicle, we are asking that riders call to reserve seats.  There is no need to call for reservations on the regular (non-commuter) Maui Bus routes.

*Public Transit Bus Schedule: Commencing July 1, 2007, the Maui Bus public transit service will consist of nine bus routes, all operated by Roberts Hawaii. These routes are funded by the County of Maui and provide service in and between various Central, South, West, Haiku, and Upcountry Maui communities. All of the routes are operated seven days a week, including all holidays. No transfers are given on any of the routes.To view the Public Transit Bus schedule, please Click Here

*Maui Interfaith Volunteers is a grass roots coalition of faith congregations, service organizations and concerned individuals. We help recruit, train and match volunteers who provide non-medical support to homebound individuals free of charge.

*Kaunoa Senior Services. For the frail, isolated elderly who is unable to utilize or does not have access to other forms of transportation, Kaunoa’s Assisted Transportation/Outreach Program provides one-on-one escort services to conduct daily living activities such as shopping, banking, going to the doctor, etc. This allows the elderly to maintain their independent living capacity. *American Cancer Society on Maui offers information, guidance, services, and programs to help improve the quality of life for cancer patients. An allotment of money for non medical services is given to registered cancer patients with the American Cancer Society. Gift items (wigs, dressings, hats, nutritional supplements, bras, etc), discounted lodging, equipment assistance, referrals to support group, childhood cancer programs, and support services (Reach to recovery, Look Good Feel Better, TLC Catalogue and Toppers) are all provided by the Maui ACS. *Maui Memorial Medical Center Patient Assistance Program: A patient care advocate dedicated to providing patient centered assistance for the under and uninsured in acquiring medication, State aid, nutritional supplements, and facilitating charity care for MMMC bills. *The Medical Assistance Program (MEDICAID) has been in effect since January 1966. In August 1994, Hawaii’s Medicaid Program separated into two methods of providing services for the two major groups of recipients. Generally, for individuals who are age 65 and over, or certified blind or disabled, coverage is provided under Hawaii’s Fee-For-Service Medicaid Program where providers are paid directly for their services. For all other individuals, coverage is provided under a managed care program called Hawaii QUEST.

*Hawaii QUEST, commonly known as QUEST is a program that provides health coverage through health plans for eligible Hawaii residents. It provides medical and mental health services. Dental Services are provided under the Medicaid Fee-For-Service Program. QUEST is administered by the Department of Human Services, Med-QUEST Division and is financed through the State of Hawaii and the Federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

*Maui Office on Aging provides a myriad of services for older adults in need including: Adult day care, Adult day care respite, Assisted transportation,  Attendant care, Case management, Chore services, Congregate meals, Friendly visiting/telephone reassurance, Home delivered meals, Homemaker/housekeeper services, Legal assistance, Leisure, and Personal care assistance.

*Hui No Ke Ola Pono (Native Hawaiian Health Care System) is a private, non-profit community-based health enhancement, disease prevention and health care center. Our health enhancement programs are CARF accredited. We provide health/nutrition programs, health management programs and health care referrals for the community of Maui in a culturally caring manner. The Hui staff works within a standard of conduct that reflects Hawaiian values and provides services to the Native Hawaiian Community on Maui through its Wailuku and Hana offices.
